Servers housed within the ECE ITS data center are not physically accessible to the owner. ECE ITS staff will receive the equipment either via direct shipping or drop-off to an agreed location.
Only standard rackmount form factors will be accepted with the following additional hardware requirements
Redundant power supplies with IEC C14 inlets, 208v auto-sensing
IEEE 802.3an 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE-T 10 Gbit/s Ethernet over copper twisted pair cable)
Front-to-back airflow
Less than 350 Watts power density per standard rack unit
ECE ITS Datacenter provides
Monitoring and control of temperature, humidity, moisture
Uninterruptable power supply for failover to building diesel generator or graceful shutdown
Fire suppression system
Access control and video surveillance
10 Gigabit Ethernet to endpoints
40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GBASE-LR4) uplink from data center to campus backbone network
ECE ITS will install a managed operating system or a hypervisor upon which virtual machines will be configured with a managed operating system. See Virtual Machine Setup section for further details.
