• If your printer isn't in the list, select Select The Printer I want isn't listed. 

• Select the Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname and click the Next button. 

• Set the Device type to TCP/IP Device .

• Enter the fully qualified domain name for the printer, for example , exampleprinterPRINTER.andrewLAN.localLOCAL.cmu.edu  and CMU.EDU and click the Next button.

• Select the printer driver which is most appropriate. In some cases, Windows will detect and select a printer driver for you.  Systems configured by ECE ITS may have HP Universal print after Feb 2022 have HP, Xerox, Konica and Ricoh Universal print drivers installed which is appropriate for most HP Pagewide, Officejet and Laserjet models.

  • If needed, Download and Unzip Windows_Multiple_Universal_PrintDrivers.zip to a folder, open the Package directory and run Deploy-Application.exe

    Under some circumstances, the installer application may prompt that an installation error has occurred, this is generally because part of the driver package is already installed on your computer. This is NOT an issue if the manufacturer driver you need is available after running the installer.

    
    

  • (Optional)  If asked to replace the existing driver or use one that is already installed, select Use the driver that is currently installed (recommended) and click Next.

• Set the Printer name to the fully qualified domain name above, for example, exampleexample printer.andrew.cmu.edu and click the Next button.

• Select Do not share this printer and click Next

• (Optional) Click Print a test page . 

• Click Finish .
