How to Install a Networked Printer

Please read the directions on this page first for CMU specific steps and then refer to the section headed To install or add a network, wireless or bluetooth printer at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/install-a-printer-in-windows-10-cc0724cf-793e-3542-d1ff-727e4978638b

Select The Printer I want isn't listed.
Select the Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname and click the Next button.
Set the Device type to TCP/IP Device .
Enter the fully qualified domain name for the printer, for example , example printer.andrew.local.cmu.edu and click the Next button.
Select the printer driver which is most appropriate. In some cases, Windows will detect and select a printer driver for you. Systems configured by ECE ITS may have HP Universal print drivers installed which is appropriate for most HP Pagewide, Officejet and Laserjet models.

- (Optional) If asked to replace the existing driver or use one that is already installed, select Use the driver that is currently installed (recommended) and click Next.
Set the Printer name to the fully qualified domain name above, for example, example printer.andrew.cmu.edu and click the Next button.
Select Do not share this printer and click Next
(Optional) Click Print a test page .
Click Finish .
